Žipov is situated in the southern part of the Šariš Highlands, in the valley of the Kanovský brook. For the first time Žipov is mentioned in writing in 1354. In the 18th century, with the arrival of the noble year of the Rholl family, the village boomed. In the past, the village became known for the smelting of iron, but also silver, copper and mercury. The building of the old distillery has also been preserved. From the first half of the 19th century comes a small religious building built near the manor house in the Baroque-Classicist style.
The classicist two-tract manor house was built on an older Renaissance foundation. The exterior consists of a one-storey block building with a rectangular plan. In the centre of the façade, the building is divided by a deep projecting buttress - a projection from the façade - and a tympanum. Originally there was a balcony above the entrance stone portal, which was supported by cantilevered columns, but these were removed in the 1960s. In the rooms on the ground floor, which in the past were used to accommodate the servants, but also as a kitchen and storerooms, cross vaults can be found; the rooms on the first floor have vaults with mounded and lunette vaults. In the first half of the 19th century, the Rholl family built a classical cottage near the south-west corner of the manor. The construction of the curio closed the space from the west. This created a courtyard with a small elliptical park, in the middle of which is a deep well and an old elm tree. The courtyard was surrounded by a stone wall, and there was a gate at the east, popularly known today as the „kapura“. One cannot fail to mention the buildings of the lighthouse, which are to the west and south of the manor house on the site still called Ribnik. Among the older preserved buildings, we should also mention the villa, popularly called Mošareň, in the Ribnički locality.
The manor house was repaired in 1985, but due to several insensitive interventions during its use in the last century, its appearance suffered.
