Kúria Kračúnovce

In 1212, King Andrew II donated to the Crusader monastery in Chmeľov the property lying northeast of Chmeľov to the valley of the Čepcov stream. It also included the property of Kračúnov, which is not mentioned by name in the deed. The very name of the village and its location indicate the then and older Slovak settlement in the valley of the Topoľa stream. In documents from the 14th-16th centuries, it regularly appears under the Hungarian name Karachonmezew, meaning Kračúnovo Pole, and sporadically under the Slovak name Kračúnovce. Both names are based on the ancient Slovak name or nickname Kračún (Krátky). It was still used in northeastern Hungary in the 13th-14th centuries. We consider the most probable relationship of the unknown bearer of this name to the village to be that of the first Šoltýs, because the ownership development of the Kračún property in the 13th-14th centuries excludes the ownership relationship of the eventual landowner Kračún.

The classical curio house dates from the mid-19th century with later modifications and additions, which was built on older foundations. The layout repeats the plan of the curio house with a central corridor to which the other rooms are connected, but in construction it is adapted to the local vernacular architecture. It has strongly projecting buttresses on both sides of the main wing, rather they are square corner towers, which are decorated with corner rustication. The single-storey main part of the building had a slightly projecting open bay, the gable of which stood on wooden columns. The windows in this part were decorated with above-window reliefs of stylised aces and shells. A purpose-built gable was added to the west side of the building, changing the plan of the building, which was U-shaped. The older rooms in the northern wing of the building are vaulted with Prussian arches.
