Kapusany was at one time connected by stars. Presence Stargazer Jacob at Kapušian Castle may be a historical fact, because the "brother of the stars" is mentioned by the county archivist Ján Kerekeš, but also by Baron Alojz Medňanský. Today it is impossible to prove which castle lord they provided services to "Stargazers from exotic lands", because the castle literature is surprisingly poor.
In 1468, the star-spy of the proud Kapy family made a fatal mistake. To the influential and complacent captain of the royal army of Matthias Corvinus, he cast a bad lot. The offended captain was visibly insulted to the point of blood. According to the oracle, he was to be struck by a fireball. He turned his anger against his brothers John and Gregor, who ruled at Kapušian Castle and held a prominent position in the family hierarchy. The Kapy brothers prevented him from stabbing the eyeless charlatan with his sword. This angered the captain even more. He swore vengeance and left the castle in a rage. The opportune moment for revenge came soon enough. The captain whispered poisonous lies to the king.
"The stars foretell evil," warned the fortune teller at Kapusany Castle, but "all is not lost," he added encouragingly.
King Matthias Corvinus had a reputation as a wise and judicious ruler, but even great figures of history have a habit of making mistakes. The almighty fate, however, arranged the sequence of subsequent events according to its own scenario. The fulfillment of the fortune-teller's prophecy from Kapušany Castle happened in broad daylight. There were neither lightning nor thunder. The royal captain was hanging around the lubricant for throwing fireballs. He did not heed the warning of the archers. There was a mishap during the test firing. A fiery, incandescent ball hit the captain. The unfortunate man died on the spot. "The will of the heavens and the stars" was fulfilled to the letter. King Matthias Corvinus placed the illustrious and valiant Duke Imrich Zapolya at the head of the allied armies. The royal order was short and clear: "Let no stone be left unturned at Kapušany Castle...!"
"Stars don't lie, only people do," the star-spy argued at the time.
When the Kapy brothers saw the royal army massing under the castle. They considered negotiating peace. A castle messenger on a fast horse flew to Prešov to deliver a message to Zápol. However, the Kapy brothers did not wait for a reply. Under the cover of night, they secretly leave the castle. The destination, the residence of King Matthias Corvinus. Two horsemen and one small horse on horseback with gifts for the king wander after the king. At the castle gate they wait longer than usual. Disappointed and disgusted, they were about to turn their horses around for the return journey. Then a commanding voice from the palace windows stops them. The sick son of the king saw the little horse. For the first time in months he seemed to have suddenly awakened from his sickly lethargy. He asked the doctors to bring the funny little horse to him. King Matthias is delighted, changes his mind and accepts the brothers from Kapusha Castle. To do what the country's sickest healers could not, the little horse from Kapushi Castle manages to cure the king's son and puts an end to the attack. The little horse was the pet of the castle cook of Kapusany Castle and with its small size it saved the greatness of the castle from the attack of the allied armies of the three royal cities of Presov, Bardejov and Košice, even though the stars foretold evil.
