In the \u0160ari\u0161 region, we celebrated it this year as early as <strong>Saturday 26 September 2026<\/strong>, namely to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/historia\/hrad-saris\/\" data-type=\"historia\" data-id=\"2065\">\u0160ari\u0161 Castle,<\/a> where visitors to several events came together. The programme featured traditional cuisine, cultural performances, activities for families with children, and the announcement of the winners of the popular family-oriented quiz, LEGENDARIUM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event included\u00a0<strong>Cabbage Day<\/strong>, which took place at \u0160ari\u0161 Castle and in the archaeological park below the castle, as well as the ceremonial <strong>Results of the 11th LEGENDARIUM competition<\/strong>. In 2026, nearly 4,000 children took part in the scheme, visiting a total of 31,250 locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u0160ari\u0161 Castle, one of the region\u2019s most significant historical landmarks, has thus become a meeting place for families and lovers of history, traditions and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/HradnSAris_OOCR-Region-Saris-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4349\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">OOCR \u0160ari\u0161 Region at Cabbage Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Regional Tourism Organisation Regi\u00f3n \u0160ari\u0161<\/strong> was present at the event as one of the partners. Visitors were able to meet us at our exhibition stand, where we showcased opportunities for trips and exploring the \u0160ari\u0161 region, represented by a member of staff <strong>Pre\u0161ov Region Tourist Information Centre,<\/strong> which served as a centre for the distribution of stickers and prizes to competition participants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legendarium.info\">LEGENDARIUM<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Objavovanie-Presova-na-web-upravena-velkost-10-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6522\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following were available\u00a0<strong>promotional materials<\/strong> a <strong>suggestions for day trips<\/strong>, as well as activities for children and adults. Visitors were able to try their hand at an eight-way puzzle, a general knowledge quiz, colouring in pictures, or a quiz focusing on words from the \u0160ari\u0161 dialect. They received small prizes and items from our merchandise range for taking part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We would like to thank all the visitors who stopped by our stand and took part in the activities we had organised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Objavovanie-Presova-na-web-upravena-velkost-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6525\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cabbage Day: Traditions and Regional Cuisine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cabbage Day brought to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/historia\/hrad-saris\/\" data-type=\"historia\" data-id=\"2065\">\u0160ari\u0161 Castle<\/a> and to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/pre-rodiny\/archeopark-velky-saris\/\" data-type=\"pre-rodiny\" data-id=\"6120\">archaeological park<\/a> In Ve\u013ek\u00fd \u0160ari\u0161, demonstrations of traditional cabbage preparation and tastings of regional dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She gave a presentation at the archaeological park <strong>processing of cabbage heads<\/strong> Ve\u013ek\u00fd \u0160ari\u0161 Pensioners\u2019 Association. At the castle, visitors were able to enjoy cabbage soup, traditional cabbage dumplings and stewed cabbage with roast potatoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme also included <strong>the official unveiling of the new castle furnace<\/strong> into operation. Fresh bread was then baked there, which visitors were able to sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event thus showcased traditional food preparation methods and the local culinary heritage, which forms an integral part of the culture of the \u0160ari\u0161 region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Objavovanie-Presova-na-web-upravena-velkost-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6524\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Results of the LEGENDARIUM competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The highlight of the family-oriented discovery competition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legendarium.info\">LEGENDARIUM<\/a> The awards ceremony for the 11th edition of the competition took place. The competition, aimed at families with children under the age of 18, ran from 13 June to 13 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost took part in this year\u2019s event\u00a0<strong>4,000 children<\/strong>, which they visited together as many as\u00a0<strong>31,250 locations<\/strong>. A total of 60 competitors received awards, with both main and supplementary prizes awaiting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The top three winners received cash prizes from the competition\u2019s main partner, Decathlon. Other prizes included family weekend breaks, tickets to water parks and attractions, scooters and other rewards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legendarium.info\">LEGENDARIUM<\/a> encourages families with children to explore interesting places <a href=\"https:\/\/psk.sk\">Pre\u0161ov Region<\/a> and discover its natural, historical and cultural treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Objavovanie-Presova-na-web-upravena-velkost-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6526\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A programme of events for children and adults alike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>World Tourism Day at the castle was made all the more enjoyable by a mascot bearing his likeness <strong>\u017dofia Medov\u00e1<\/strong>, roaming freely <strong>the castle peacocks<\/strong>, giant <strong>puppets on stilts<\/strong> and the finale was not to be missed either <strong>kite-flying event<\/strong>, to which many children brought kites \u2013 the final reward in Legendarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colleagues from \u2026 also contributed by taking part <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatrypodhorie.sk\/\">OOCR High Tatras Foothills<\/a>, an exhibition of children\u2019s favourite experiences and drawings from Legendaria was on display, and the Donjon castle tower \u2013 which serves as the main landmark and viewing tower of \u0160ari\u0161 Castle \u2013 was also open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Objavovanie-Presova-na-web-upravena-velkost-13.png\" alt=\"Svetov\u00fd de\u0148 cestovn\u00e9ho ruchu na hrade \u0160ari\u0161\" class=\"wp-image-6528\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A varied cultural programme at the castle was organised by <strong>Port\u00e1l Theatre<\/strong> with the play *The Golden Fish*, <strong>DFS \u0160ari\u0161an\u010dek<\/strong>, <strong>Spievankovo<\/strong> and there were also <strong>The \u0160ari\u0161 Gava\u013eires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors were able to walk through <strong>craft markets<\/strong> - demonstrations of honey products, traditional wire-working and herbalism, as well as the sale of flower wreaths; the packed programme for children also included <strong>Searching for lost treasure with M\u00e1jka<\/strong> from Ham\u00e9 SK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The \u0160ari\u0161 region has plenty to offer in autumn too<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>World Tourism Day on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/historia\/hrad-saris\/\" data-type=\"historia\" data-id=\"2065\">\u0160ari\u0161 Castle<\/a> It combined a presentation of the region, local traditions, gastronomy and activities for families with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following on from our summer activities, we\u2019re continuing to discover the interesting places and experiences that the \u0160ari\u0161 region has to offer in autumn too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We would like to thank all our partners, performers, organisers and visitors who contributed to the preparation and running of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was organised with financial support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.regionsaris.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/logo-nove-pata-clanok-oocrrs.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4884\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Source: OOCR R\u0160<br>Source of photographs: OOCR R\u0160<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 27 September.
